Heavenly-Scented Garlic Bread

One of the most amazing scents to come from my oven is when I make homemade garlic bread. The aroma is positively swoon-worthy, with the deep richness of garlic, combined with that amazing scent of warming crusty bread. I often bake my own loaf of french bread, then when it cools, cut in half, smear soft butter, squeeze and spread freshly roasted garlic cloves, and sprinkle a finely-chopped fresh parsley atop both sides of the bread, smoosh the two sides together, wrap in aluminum foil, then place in the oven for about 30 minutes. Then I unwrap the foil, leaving it as a placemat beneath the bread, and toast the bread under the low broiler for about 5 minutes, to get a bit of a crunch and golden crust.

This garlic bread is just as good with store-bought French or Italian bread instead of home-baked, garlic powder instead of roasted garlic spread, and dry parsley flakes instead of fresh. It’s easy, it’s quick to put together, and it’s absolutely delicious!

Add a loaf to tonight’s supper, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy!
