Ah, tiny seeds sprinkled in small piles of soil and seed starter. The little domed trays are spread throughout my home, protected from the too-cool outdoor temps and too bright daytime sun. But then – a miracle! Only a few short weeks later, every flat surface of my home is filled with hope. Delicate green stalks and leaves begin to show themselves. Bright green wisps push through the rich soil. So full of promise and future deliciousness!
Today, my little zucchini seeds-turned-sprouts were introduced to the outdoors! They have their little cardboard collars on, and are hunkered down in my mini greenhouse on the front porch. Reaching for the sunshine, surrounded by the clean, fresh air, they look pretty darn happy. Let’s hope I can nurture them into full grown plants, and abundant summer zucchini.
